What this document actually says
Policy 1150: Commendations And Awards (Last revised September 13, 2022)
This policy allows the Reed Union School District Board to publicly recognize parents, community members, businesses, and organizations that make outstanding contributions or provide long-term service to the district or students. Anyone—Board members, employees, parents, students, or community members—can nominate someone for recognition by submitting the person's name and description of their contribution to the Superintendent. The Board can choose how to recognize recipients, including presenting letters, resolutions, plaques, or other awards at public meetings, holding receptions, or designating special recognition days, weeks, or months. The policy encourages individual schools to create their own recognition programs as well.
What this means for your family
For Families: You can nominate exceptional volunteers, parents, or community members who support Reed Union schools for official Board recognition. This encourages community involvement in your child's education. If you or someone you know contributes significantly to the district, schools, or students, they may receive public acknowledgment at Board meetings or special events, fostering a culture of appreciation and engagement.
